Who are we?

Vicarage Court Solicitors have an excellent reputation for dealing with a variety of cases. These range from complex and intricate contract law and contentious disputes to residential and commercial property transactions and everything in between.

Rohit Deepak - CEO and Head of Insolvency & Litigation

Rohit completed his training as a Solicitor with a City of London practice, Franks Charlesley & Co. Following qualification in 1992, he joined Shakespeares Solicitors as an Assistant Solicitor and went on to become a Partner in 1999.

During his time at Shakespeares he dealt with the more complicated banking litigation undertaken by Shakespeares on behalf of 2 of the UK's leading high street Banks, conducted the largest product liability claim ever handled by Shakespeares and one of the largest shareholder disputes, acting for the successful Petitioner.

Rohit has also dealt with the more complicated insolvency cases, acting on behalf of the UK's leading insolvency practitioners leading to recoveries in excess of £20m.

Rohit left Shakespeares in April, 2007 to set up Calthorpe Solicitors (now Vicarage Court Solicitors Limited) with a team of carefully selected partners who in their own rights have unmatched skills and expertise.

Rohit has had the good fortune to have carried his client following, built up over the past 18 years, with him and each and every client that he has ever worked which has supported him and his new practice in full measure. The client base is truly global ranging from China to the United States.

Christopher Hill - Managing Director and Head of Banking

Prior to joining Calthorpe Solicitors (now Vicarage Court Solicitors) in April 2007, Chris trained at Shakespeares Solicitors in Birmingham qualifying in 1991 and becoming a Partner in 1999. Chris has more than 20 years experience specialising in commercial dispute resolution acting on behalf of banks, finance houses, corporate and small businesses as well as individuals and office holders in the following fields:-

  • Individual and corporate debt recovery
  • Breach of commercial contracts
  • Disputes between banks and their customers
  • Fraud investigations, asset tracing and realisation and freezing orders
  • Claims arising from finance agreements
  • Sale of goods and consumer credit
  • Negligence claims
  • Personal insolvency

Sukhveer Singh - Director

Sukhveer deals with a whole range of commercial disputes relating to persons and property. Sukhveer also heads the property team at Vicarage Court.

Sukhveer adopts a commercial and pragmatic approach to dispute resolution, keeping in mind sensitivities and sensibilities, and has conducted a number of high value / complex litigation claims acting for both Claimants and Defendants. 

Combined with his commercial property experience, he also has broad based expertise in the resolution of property disputes concerning landlords and tenants, boundary disputes, building disputes and Party Wall Act matters.

His commercial property experience has seen him act for a wide range of clients across the country in their acquisition of commercial properties ranging from high street shops to city centre office blocks to multiple care / nursing homes.

Sukhveer also has a broad range of residential property experience. He has vast experience in all facets of freehold and leasehold matters and has represented an array of clients, from investors to home buyers.

Sukhveer prides himself on delivering pro-active no no-nonsense commercial advice to clients and providing support to them in the decisions that they take.

Yusuf Loonat - Director

Yusuf advises on all aspects of property and real estate matters. Having trained and qualified in London, Yusuf returned home to Birmingham in 2007 and continues to advise and represent his vast client base, which has continued to follow him.

Yusuf's experience covers a full range of commercial and residential property work, with special focus on commercial property acquisition and restructuring. Yusuf has time and again mixed his legal skills with commercial awareness and nous in pro-actively bringing transactions to a fruitful conclusion.

Listed below are a few types of transactions that Yusuf has vast experience in:

  • Portfolio acquisition, investments, management and disposal;
  • Commercial acquisitions and re-finance;
  • Property finance for corporate occupiers and investors including bridging finance and development funding;
  • Landlord & Tenant matter including enfranchisement and lease renewal;
  • Shariah compliant finance;
  • Business re-structuring and strategy; and
  • Short term and bridging finance.

Tony Keating - Consultant

Tony is a Consultant Solicitor with Vicarage Court Solicitors Limited having practised in the Midlands for some 40 years including extensive formal partnerships with two firms in the Black County and Birmingham.

He served his articles with Slater Heelis & Co then one of the two big commercial firms in Manchester and on qualifying practised as an Assistant Solicitor dealing with civil litigation for the leading London law firm Barlow Lyde & Gilbert on behalf of insurance companies and major clients including the then British Steel Corporation.

Subsequent experience includes property and commercial work but in latter years emphasis has been on civil litigation including commercial and residential landlord and tenant matters and has successfully conducted litigation in the High Court to include cases lasting several weeks.

He is also an advocate of many years experience having worked in both the Magistrates and County Courts.

Paul Stevens - Consultant

Paul qualified in 1975 and spent most of his career in the Black Country, initially qualifying with Wall James & Davies, moving on in 1982 to George Green Solicitors where he was a partner for 20 years, before moving to Redditch in 2004, and has now been recruited by Vicarage Court Solicitors. In his long career Paul has had a wide experience in many areas of law, specialising in commercial property work over the last 20 years. He has considerable experience in dealing with Landlord and Tenant matters, Business transactions and Commercial and Residential Developments, having acted for several builders and developers for many years.

Paul applies common sense and practicality, borne of many years experience in advising his clients.
